Robinson Seismic Ltd was last night announced as a finalist in the Discovering Gold category of the 2007 Wellington Gold Awards in association with The Dominion Post.
The Gold Awards were established to recognise enterprise and excellence in
business in the Wellington Region, and they provide a tangible focus for
media, the public and the Wellington business community to celebrate
outstanding achievements by Wellington Region businesses.
The Discovering Gold category focuses on technological, scientific and
innovative research and development projects and products that have come
to market in the previous year. Robinson Seismic has qualified for
this category as a result of the commercial application of its new
RoGlider product. This revolutionary new seismic bearing has been
developed through the assistance of a Foundation for Research, Science and
Technology (Technology for Business Growth) grant and will have its first
commercial application in the new Wanganui Hospital, currently under
construction. The RoGlider has been developed to address a large gap
in the seismic isolation market for light to medium-weight structures.
Chief Executive of Robinson Seismic Ltd, Mr Alan Wilson, is delighted by
this recognition of the company's efforts by the Wellington business
community. "The RoGlider is the most exciting product to hit the
seismic isolation market since the original concept of seismic isolation
was developed. This product has tremendous potential to protect
structures throughout the world, particularly those in high seismic
activity areas. We are very excited by its potential."
